Home Renovations in St. Peters
I have a few new blog posts in the works about newborns and family photography (and a model call coming up, so be sure to sign up for our newsletter to be the first to know about that!), but in the meantime, I wanted to share a series of posts on our home renovation!
Finding a Home with Room for a Photography Studio
We moved to St. Peters, MO, from Knoxville, TN, for my husband’s job. We knew we wanted a house with a walk out basement so I could have an in home photography studio. Because we homeschool and live so far from family, an in home studio just works best for us. With that requirement and the crazy market, we found a house that worked, but needed some pretty drastic updating. As soon as we moved in, we got started painting, scraping popcorn ceilings, ripping up carpet and linoleum, and designing a not-so-90’s house.
I can’t wait to share before and after pictures! We still have a lot of trim work and tiling to do, plus the basement flooring after a recent water main valve break down there, but it is coming along!
We knew we did not want to keep the green linoleum and the carpeted dining room. We decided to lay hardwood in most of the main floor and tile the laundry room and powder room. We still have to do the tiling and the baseboards, but our hardwoods are done! Here is a quick before and after close up.
My favorite place for flooring is Floor and Decor! This solid hardwood is from there and I will be picking up the studio flooring and laundry room tile there today!
